The color and flash on this piece of Ancient Roman Glass is incredible; truly one of my favorites! This piece includes a 14k gold filled, 16” or 18” chain.
Ancient Roman Glass is about 2,000 years old. The natural iridescence is caused by weathering on the surface. The interplay of lustrous, changing colors, is due to the refraction of light by thin layers of weathered glass. How much a glass object weathers depends mainly on burial conditions and to a lesser extent the chemistry of it.
